Hair Raising Halloween Home Decor Projects

Get your home ready for spooky trick or treaters with a few festive Halloween Home Decor Projects: a scary Halloween Lantern, a spooky Halloween Mason Jar Light, and a sneaky Tattered Lace Precision Cutting design. Create some today!

You will need:

Halloween Lantern

• Glass lantern, black craft paper, gold craft paper, Paper Piercing Kit, SDX225 or SDX230D, Paper Piercing mat, Low-Tack Mat, tape or glue dots, scissors
• SpookyLantern_Embellishments.fcm
• SpookyLantern_PaperPiercing.fcm

Tattered Lace Precision Cutting

• Tattered Lace Collection 5, ScanNCut, stiff craft felt, standard mat, high-tack fabric support sheet

Halloween Mason Jar Light:

• Black vinyl, Roll Feeder, ScanNCut DX, Mason jar, string lights
• MasonJar_Spiders.fcm

Steps:

Halloween Lantern

1. Download SpookyLantern_PaperPiercing.fcm to your machine.
2. Apply a sheet of black paper to the Paper Piercing mat.
3. Follow the instructions that come with the Paper Piercing Kit—using the Auto Blade, cut out the design first.
4. Then, switch out the Auto Blade for the 0.8mm Paper Piercing tool. Pierce the design. (This will likely take some time!)
5. Carefully remove the pierced design from the mat once finished.
6. Repeat steps 2-5 2 more times to create a total of 3 pieces.
7. Measure out the panes of the lantern you’re using—for our lantern, we were able to trim the paper pierced cutouts about in half to fit within each pane.
8. Once you have the panes measured, trim down the paper pierced cutouts to the sizes you’ll need. The goal is to make the wave shape run along the sides of the lantern as seamlessly as possible.
9. Attach the paper pierced cutouts to your lantern using the adhesive of your choice.

NOTE: MAKE SURE TO ONLY ATTACH THE CUTOUTS TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE LANTERN. (Fire hazard)

10. Next, download SpookyLantern_Embellishments.fcm to your machine.
11. Using the low-tack mat and the regular Auto Blade, use gold and black paper to cut out the designs.
12. Once the designs are cut out, arrange on the panes of the lantern. Attach using the adhesive of your choice.

NOTE: MAKE SURE TO ONLY ATTACH THE CUTOUTS TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE LANTERN. (Fire hazard)

13. You’re done! Enjoy your new spooky lantern with some pillar candles.



Tattered Lace Precision Cutting
1. Using CanvasWorkspace, download the patterns TTLP05003 and TTLP05016 from the Tattered Lace Collection 5.
2. Scale the patterns up or down in CanvasWorkspace to get your desired sizing.
3. Apply craft felt in the colors in your choice to the standard mat, using the high-tack fabric support sheet to make sure that the felt doesn’t move around.
4. Cut out each pattern in the colors your desire.
5. Carefully remove each felt piece from the mat.
6. You’re done!

Use to decorate any surface in your home.

Halloween Mason Jar Light
1. Download MasonJar_Spiders.fcm to your machine.
2. Load the roll feeder with black vinyl.
3. Cut out the spider decal design.
4. Weed away all excess vinyl.
5. Apply the vinyl design to the mason jar. Smooth the design down as much as possible to eliminate air bubbles.
6. Done! Fill the mason jar with your choice of Halloween lights, vase filler, etc.
