Quilting Tip: Sew Patchwork with Brother ¼” Piecing Foot

This foot is a quilter’s best friend when it comes to sewing standard patchwork. Used with a center needle straight stitch, the single hole in the center of the foot provides full support on soft cotton fabrics typically used for quilting. It works great for a common quilt technique called chain piecing, where you are sewing multiple sets of patchwork blocks and you need each of your sets to measure exactly the same. The metal extension on the side of the foot serves as a “fence” to keep the edge of your fabric layers running along the guide, giving you a consistent 1/4” seam from start to finish. This foot makes your pieced projects look like they were created by a real pro! Note: SA185, the Brother ¼” piecing foot
with guide, along with the MuVit Dual Feed foot,
was featured in season seven of the Brother sponsored PBS It’s Sew Easy TV show.
I demonstrated patchwork piecing on a simple pinwheel block on Show 702-1. Watch the video below from my YouTube channel. Enjoy!
